We are all fond of coming up with a list of resolutions when a new year rolls around that we attempt to keep maybe for only a couple of weeks then promptly give up on it. The act of making new year resolutions have long been a tradition since 1894 BC where ancient Babylonians made promises to their gods at the start of each year that they would return borrowed objects and pay their debts. Since then, people from all around the world resolve to make promises to themselves to do an act of self-improvement or something slightly nicer. Most of the time, these new year resolutions are never really carried out in its entirety. Here are 10 new year resolutions people never keep, and maybe you can find yours in this list too.
1. Eat Healthier

Who are you kidding? You will always fool yourself that you will cheat on your diet today and resume eating healthy tomorrow, but when you see that big, fat, juicy burger, all thoughts of eating healthy just goes right out the window. Maybe try brisk walking after a sinful meal?
2. Get Rid of Unused Stuff in Your Wardrobe/Room

You have stacks upon stacks of little trinkets just piling up on your shelves and a wardrobe bursting to its seams with clothes, most of which you will never use ever again, but you're just too lazy to sieve through the mess and discard the unwanted. Or is it only me? I have useless stuff I've been hoarding, some for even up to 10 years now and always tell myself every new year that I will clear it out soon. But what do we say to organizing our rooms? Not today!
3. Stop Making Poor Love Choices

So you resolve to stop falling for people who are bad for you and keep breaking your heart. But a month down, you are going out with this promiscuous person and fervently clinging onto the futile hope that this time it will be different because you think you can change him/her. Well the thing about love is that it strikes at the most unexpected time with the most unexpected people, so if you don't keep to this resolution, it is ok. After many douchebags and life lessons, you will eventually find someone who will treat you right. If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain. So don't be disheartened, and don't give up on love, allow yourself to fall in love and sooner or later you will get your own happy ending.
4. Save Money

Who else spends all of their salary within a month and ends up having to live like a pauper right before the next pay check? I do! You keep telling yourself you will set aside a certain sum of money every month to save up for a rainy day or that much deserved vacation, but maybe a couple of months later, you will blow all your savings on an expensive toy. Then you will just reason with yourself that the cost of living is too high to be able to save anything and continue with your spendthrift ways.
5. Sleep Earlier

The younger generation is particularly fond of staying up really late and convincing themselves that 5 hours of sleep is sufficient enough to last them throughout the next day. But when morning comes and the alarm shrills, you will be lying in bed hating yourself and feeling like death. You will then make a decision to sleep earlier that night but you don't, and the whole vicious cycle repeats itself. There is way too much things  to do at night than sleep anyway, like stalking an ex on Facebook, surfing through online retail shops for great deals, or marathon-ing a TV show.
6. Exercise

Many of us could afford to lose a few kilograms after all that holiday feasting. But the thought of just hitting the gym already tires you out. And besides, ain't nobody got time for that.
7. Spend More Time with Loved Ones

Your parents and grandparents are definitely not getting any younger with each passing year, and you've been putting off meeting your friends whom you used to go to school with for ages already. But after a hard day of work, you would just like to spend some alone time playing games or reading a book rather than having to deal with making conversation.
8. Be Happier

Let's face it, we're only human, we can't program ourselves to remain in a certain state of mind. Life is like a rollercoaster ride, with the ups and downs being our emotions, it it were to be going up or the down or vice versa, it would get tiresome. We have to be sad in order to know what happy feels like. But if you think you are feeling miserable most of the time, you could try to get rid of the negative aspects in your life; friends who put you down, the job that you hate, etc.
9. Spend More Time Doing Constructive Stuff

Like reading a book, or going for a walk in the park, or building something... but let's face it, you're just going to be staring at the computer screen for hours like a braindead zombie.
