Stay away from the hustle and bustle of Orchard Road, pop by 7 Ann Siang Hill and say hello to Little Dröm Store, an independent publisher and shop full of random little knick knacks, pretty photo books, quirky collectibles and handmade goodies among others.
Entering the cream-coloured store, which refers to "dream" in Swedish, is like as if you are having a happy dream – everything around is pretty, exquisite, nostaglic, or all at once. After all, owners, couple Stanley Tan and Antoinette Wong, left their jobs to set up the Little Dröm Store and keep their childhood dreams alive.
What I loved most about this place is the stories behind the products. Ask boss Stanley about the blue book of pictures and you'll find out that it was doodled specially for him by his tour guide father. Or there will always be a reason why that pastel pink Casio watch is there – "Check this out. There's rainbow coloured lights!" quips Stanley.
The Little Dröm Store shares the shop space with a pretty little cake boutique, K-ki. Unfortunately, the cakes were sold out when I was there. But from friends who have been there, their cakes are heavenly. Together, that would make K-ki and The Little Dröm Store the perfect place to kick back, relax and have a little tea with cake after the retail therapy, wouldn't it?
