Prevent Dry Eyes

Long hours in an air-conditioned room, staring at a bright screen, five days a week can cause dry eyes from wearing out your tear film. So here are some ways to prevent parched eyes, especially for the deskbound workers.

Shut & Blink

One tends not to blink as much as usual when staring at their monitors, which may cause wear and tear of the eye film. There's an easy solution to this: simply make a conscious choice to blink once in a while. It would be even better if you could get an eye shut every other hour. This could be done when you are thinking hard, or when you make a trip to the washroom.

Dehydrating Drinks

Alcoholic drinks are known to be extremely dehydrating and your eyes are not spared too. The more alcohol you consume, the more likely you are to experience the effects of dry eyes such as puffy eyes, redness and irritation. The way to counter this? Moderate your drinking.

Eye Drops

Now to the last resort, when the symptoms like redness, puffy eyes and easily irritable eyes are effecting you at work, go for eye drops but make sure your choice of use are free from preservatives. Common names include purite and benzalkonium.
