This is 40 is a movie of a case of first world problems such as having a gorgeous wife, driving a luxury car and being your own boss at a boutique record label. For fans of Knocked Up, this is also somewhat its sequel.
The male part of the couple in question, Pete (Paul Rudd) is celebrating his big 40's. He is still very much in love with his beautiful wife Debbie (Leslie Mann), except that they have some couple issues such as wife's middle-aged woes with her age and looks, the man's need for alone time and just a couple more.
Throw in to the chaos, there are also several supporting cast including John Lithgow as Mann's tightly strung father and Albert Brooks plays Pete's father, who adds on tremendously to the comic effect as a father who trumps his son by bearing boy triplets with his younger wife. Daughters of the couple are a playful performance by Maude and Iris Apatow, whose father happens to be the actual film's director, writer as well as producer Judd Apatow of The 40-Year-Old Virgin.
The film makes some cringe with the number of spoilt privileged people but that is not to say it is not true to life. Watch it for a slice of life, embarrassing or hilarious.
