Whether you are dealing with acne now or you have scars that are left behind, there are tips and techniques on how to best cover up the blemishes on your skin so that you can have a flawless-looking face.

But before learning how to apply the concealer, you have to know and understand each type to know which type you want to use.

Concealers come in various forms: A wand, a stick, a squeeze tube and some  even come in pots. Normally, the ones that work best for blemishes are those in the pot. They stick on the skin better and are typically thicker; hence they help cover up quite a bit.

The ones in a wand or a squeeze tubes are thinner and they tend to glide over the raised bumps. This is in comparison to a concealer which is thicker and will stick on top of bumps, blending in better with the rest of the skin.

After putting on your foundation, you can start applying your concealer to cover up those blemishes. Make sure you have clean hands because you do not want to have oil and bacteria on your fingers – that will definitely make your acne worse.

Use your ring finger instead of a brush because using your finger warms up the concealer, helping it blend into the skin easily.

Begin by applying the concealer around your nose area as that is where generally many will have redness or spots showing up so you want to cover that up. Also, instead of swiping the concealer across your blemishes, gently pat your finger on your face.

You should put on your layer of foundation before applying the concealer. This is because after applying your foundation, you can see clearly see where spots are still showing through and apply your concealer to hide them.

You must also make sure your concealer is the same colour as your skin. If it is lighter or darker, it will be obvious that you have concealer on.

Next, after you have your concealer on, you would want to set it in to last all day. The trick is the tool: A powder puff. Using this instead of a brush is much better as there will be less powder compared to the brush. The less powder you have on your face, the less cake-y your face will look.

Dip the puff into the loose powder container and scrap off the excess. Pat the puff above the places you applied your concealer and also the T-zone as that is where it tends to get more oily.

Again, do not swipe, especially when you are dealing with acne, because it is going to take off whatever makeup you have on the bumps. Also, do not apply any more loose powder onto the puff. Just use that little bit you have on the puff and it should be enough to help set it and make it last throughout the day.

I hope this will help you all cover your acne as well as teach something about concealers!

Cool! Concealers are really life-savers when it comes to covering up flaws on your face. But you also need to know how to use it for the full effectiveness of the concealers to take place. Just putting it on without any tactics doesn't assure that all your acne or other flaws can be covered up properly. If you didn't blend it into your skin properly, people might even see a difference in skin tone which will coincide with what you intended to do in the first place. Thanks for this article. It has given me some good advice on how to put my concealers into better use and I am sure it will give help to others too.^^

This article came just in time for my overseas trip, and i have this awful pimple which i want to conceal so badly cause i'll be going for a talk where there'll be many professionals. I've tried the squeeze tube concealer but it doesn't seem to be effective...perhaps i should get the concealer stick instead. Any brands to recommend? :-)

Get those in the pot, like i mentioned, they are the best for concealing blemishes ! ^^

I suggest you go Sephora or the Makeup store (makeupstore.se/.../concealer) get the makeup consultant to recommend you which tone to use ~~

hope that helps ! :)

I think both works~~ personal preference~~ XD to me, if i put concealer first then foundation i might end up putting on too much make up.. too thick or something.. but when i put foundation first, i apply concealer only on the parts where the blemishes are still showing ^^
